A Day Out To The Movies

March 29, 2007

So I watched Frank Miller’s 300 with my cousin today at 1U. While waiting around I saw this poster from a certain angle which made me go ‘wtf’. The only part I edited was the circle which highlights the word.

People I know have been hyping it up. However after finally getting to watch it, I think it is just overrated. The only flavor of that show is its violence and gore. I am not saying anything bad but that is what I made out of the show. It is not a film you would watch with a girl on a date. I especially was disappointed when they cut the scenes with chicks. Oh yeah sure leave the violence and gore of dismembered body parts flying around but take away the chick scenes. *SPOILER ALERT* I can tell you the factor to the persian’s victory; they had ninjas.

Before the show began, they showed a trailer of Pirates 3. It seemed fairly interesting though I hope they did not take all the good scenes and put them in the trailer. I am especially looking forward to watch Chow Yun Fatt’s performance in the show as a chinese pirate guy.

Also, I tasted the Dorayaki for the very first time. Reason being knowing it all my life as Doraemon’s favorite food. Well my curiosity has certainly be cured. It tastes like two pancakes with some sweet paste in the middle.

I felt like posting a shot of my friend’s superb parking skills.

The REAL Competition Starts Tomorrow …

July 20, 2006

… for “One In A Million”. The excitement only starts tomorrow now that we are down to the top 12 finalists. WHO WILL WIN? This is the one million Ringgit question.

My bet is on Suki. Although to be honest, I don’t think she is any more outstanding than the other finalists, I am putting my money on her age, fresh faced looks and whatever talent she has. Paul Moss and Shafinaz like her, so there must be something in her.

And there’s only one Chinese against eleven Malays and no Indians (what a pity) in this group of finalists. And this will benefit Suki, since her generous Chinese fan-base will be united and there won’t be split votes, as shown in the Wild Card show a fortnight ago.

I thought Siti’s sister would bag the wild card slot based on SMS votes, since Siti and her fiance are so rich, they can easily bomb the girl’s SMS lines, but that was not the case.

I personally liked Cindy. I think she has the looks of a *star* but it irritates me when she taps her fingers against the microphone when she performs. Maybe it’s due to nervousness or lack of confidence. I dunno ………..

Anyway, she didn’t make it to the Top 12. However, she said she’ll still be coming out with an album soon so let’s wish her the best of luck in her career. “One In A Million” or not, life goes on.

Apart from Suki, the other contestant whom I think has potential is Faizal Tahir. I think he’s got the looks too *ahem* and he’s got the rough edge rock style and any rock song he sings will suit him to a T. His rock style is way better than Rocker Kampung anytime. There’s a vast difference between Rocker Kampung and Rocker City and gimme Rocker City anytime hehehe

One other contestant who could easily bag the prize is Dayang, and if she does, no one would be surprised.

In “One In A Million”, we can vote for a contestant to be In or Out. I’m not sure if this strategy of 8tv will back-fire. I mean, let’s face it, we are not that affluent as we once were during Malaysian Idol 1 & 2.

In any case, all questions will be answered by September. Meanwhile, let’s bring out the popcorn, sit back, relax and be entertained.

Spain 4 – 0 Ukraine

June 14, 2006

This has got to be one of the most exciting games so far in the World Cup. Spain trashed Ukraine 4 nil, and honestly, it could have been more. 2 goals in each half saw them sweep past Ukraine. The best goal of the game has got to be the last goal, which got me up from the couch to celebrate it hahaha.

Spain is definitely a team to watch in this campaign. It could very well be their year. Out of all the matches that was played so far, I have to say that only 3 teams have impressed (my own judgement, of course). The teams are Czech Republic, Italy, and Spain. Brazil didnt convince me this morning, but we have to wait and see. France was disappointing! Play better god dammit!

Germany 4 – 2 Costa Rica, Poland 0 – 2 Ecuador

June 10, 2006

So it begins, and what an opening game it was. 6 goals itself in the first game, thats a new high scoring record right there. 2 awesome goals from Germany, and a deserved win for them. Hats off to Costa Rica for not giving up when they were behind by two goals.

Didnt watch the other game, because I was too tired 😛 But Ecuador won, which is not a suprise to me, considering how Poland isnt that strong.

Next game, England Vs Paraguay. Should be an interesting game to watch. But then again, I dont support England 😛

World Cup fever

June 8, 2006

Just a day away before the biggest event in the world. Yes, Im talking about The World Cup. 32 countries, 6 continents, 1 host country. Its official folks, let get it on!

The World Cup happens once every 4 years, and is the single most watched event in the entire world. Dubbed ‘The Greatest Show On Earth‘, it is bound to keep people awake for hours, since there are matches in the morning. This is a period of sleepless nights, so big bosses everywhere beware 😛

As for myself, since Im banned from sports for 2 months, I should be able to watch every matches shown on TV. Hooooo, cant wait for that. And the first game will be Germany Vs Costa Rica, tomorrow midnite, malaysian time 😉

Personally, I will be cheering on for France, as well as Japan. And maybe Holland too. Since this will be the last time Zidane will play before he retires completely from football, I wont miss it. Im hoping for a final golden swansong for one of the greatest players ever to grace the football pitch.

Viva les blues!

Nanamujika – Bokutachi no Butai

May 29, 2006

Stumbled on this duo group while I was looking for anime updates. I decided to download it since it came highly recommended. And since Im always open to new stuff, I thought I’d give it a try.

Turns out that these two girls can really sing. Both of their songs are a ballad, which is like my favourite. They have pretty impressive voices, and its all like, high-toned. If Im not mistaken, they have a few other singles, and maybe an album. Im interested in listening to them all.

The latest single is titled ‘Bokutachi no Butai’. It basically means ‘Our group’. According to their site, this song will be used in one of the dramas that they are gonna show soon. If anyone else can translate what is written there, do let me know.

If you want to sample their new single, there’s a link on the site that allows you to do so 😉

Ghost Rider

May 24, 2006

Was just browsing some trailers from Quicktime's website and saw a trailer for an upcoming movie. It is none other than Ghost Rider. For those of you who have never read the comics or heard of it, basically its a guy who has a skull for a face which is engulfed in flames, and he rides a chopper kind of bike which has its wheels engulfed in flames too. This upcoming movie stars Nicholas Cage as the Ghost Rider though I am not too sure about the choice of casting but meh. Watching the trailer, I can't say that I really like the way they CGI'ed the Ghost Rider. He looks too square and clean cut. I can't remember if he wore a long trenchcoat in the comics, but in the movie he wears a normal leather jacket which makes him look rather squarish. But I dunno, its just me.

Ghost Rider

Okay fine, maybe he never really wore a trenchcoat, but that is what I had as my memory of the Ghost Rider. I bet he would look cooler with a trenchcoat too!
